In the public sector, he served as a special education teacher (3 years), assistant/associate principal (4 years) and principal (4 years) of a large public high school in Baltimore.

Eric Carlton’s Bio
Eric has served as a regional vice president of a national educational services company until he began his own company in 2003 (Banner Learning Corp.) which ran options, alternative, and therapeutic day programs in Chicago, Milwaukee and Miami. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in African Studies from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, Master of Science degree in Special Education from Johns Hopkins University, and Education Specialist degree from Walden University.
Eric is certified in Administration, Special Education and Instructional Leadership. He belongs to numerous associations and has received significant accolades, including the AdvancED Illinois Leadership Award (2016), AdvancED Illinois Excellence in Education Award (2013), Maryland Governor’s Citation for Excellence in Instructional Leadership, the Maryland House of Delegates’ Citation of Dedication of Vision in Building a Stronger School and Community, Baltimore Mayor’s Community Partnership Award and University of Maryland Baltimore County Alumni of the Year Award.
He sits on several boards/councils including University of Chicago’s Institute for Translational Medicine, Annie’s Legacy, Guide Right Organization, Fearlessly Loving Youth and Jackson Park Hospital. Eric has worked with AdvancED for the past twelve years, served as a lead evaluator on many school and district Engagement Review Teams and served as the chairperson of the Illinois AdvancED Performance Management Group. Eric is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Over the past 30 years, he has been able to educate and improve the lives of thousands of students. While working with the most challenged students in Baltimore, Chicago, Milwaukee and Miami, Eric and his teams have been instrumental in meeting and exceeding performance indicators in all schools.
